Economic and demographic influences
Article Abstract:
The success of the retail public house sector in the U.K. is generally dependent on demographic and economic factors. Most people in the U.K. use a portion of their disposable income to buy food and drinks in pubs and an important factor in establishing how much income is available for spending in pubs is the number of people who have jobs. Prices of alcoholic drinks in pubs also play a role in spending patterns.

Pub usage
Article Abstract:
Research in the U.K. into people's drinking habits shows that the main reason for choosing a public house as a favourite drinking place is its location. Changing drinking habits means that people prefer to walk to pubs. Other high-rated reasons for visiting pubs include food service, the ambience of the establishment and the provision of catering for children.
