The success has been attributed to greater health awareness, leading to increased sports activity. Single males below 30 years of age are the target consumers. The market comprises refreshment energy drinks, functional energy drinks and sports drinks. The refreshment energy drink Lucozade and Red Bull, the functional energy drink, predominate the market, accounting for 52% and 42% of overall market value. The sales of energy and sports drinks are forecast to soar by 150% to 2004.
