Eunice Frost
Article Abstract:
Eunice Frost was the first woman in the United Kingdom to be awarded the title of OBE for work in the publishing industry. She was a key figure in Penguin Books, and called herself a literary midwife. Penguin was characterized by high levels of idealism after the 1939-1945 war, when there were shortages of food and paper. Penguin had come to resemble a conventional publisher in the 1960s, when Frost retired. Publishing has become less fun in modern times than it was when Frost was at Penguin.

A bone to pick with God
Article Abstract:
Novelist Alison Kennedy believes that she writes to escape herself. She does not plan ahead when she is writing, and believes that the only way to write is to make a place of safety within which she cannot think about what anybody else will think. She regards herself as typing for a living, but is also aware of the great power and significance of words. She is unwilling to consider the autobiographical content in her work, indicating that she feels that fiction is fiction.
