The farmer who wrote letters to the lifer
Article Abstract:
Tom Shannon, who is currently serving a life sentence for murder, had a very difficult childhood, according to Christopher Morgan, who has corresponded with Shannon since 1992. This correspondence has now been published as a book, entitled 'Invisible Crying Tree.' The two men have met only three times, but have developed a very close relationship. Morgan feels that publishing their correspondence will play a role in making the general public more aware of what happens in prisons.
