Fighting like rats and frogs
Article Abstract:
Sectarian division in Lanarkshire, Scotland, are being eroded, but were once felt even by small children, who learnt sectarian nursery rhymes. Children were divided by being sent to different schools, according to whether they were Catholic or Protestant. There were also separate clubs, living areas, places of work, and bars for each group, and they supported different soccer teams. The prejudice still remains, and the vice-chairman of Rangers soccer team has had to resign as a result of voicing his prejudices.

Gates, Posh, and the hand that rocks the cradle
Article Abstract:
The 'Power List 1999' published by the Sunday Times reinforces widespread confusion in UK society about power, rather than giving people a better insight into it. The list is dominated by politics, the media, finance and business, as is the case with day-to-day life. There are very few women on the list, reflecting the fact that women are not particularly drawn to power, while men continue to need power as part of their mating strategy.
