Figures that don't add up
Article Abstract:
The Flowers East gallery in London, England, is currently staging an exhibition entitled 'British Figurative Art - Part Two: Sculpture.' This exhibition covers the work of around 40 different artists, and is extremely diverse. Many of the pieces are not at all appealing, but the exhibition is interesting for the way in which it highlights that a sense of loss and confusion can emerge when traditional boundaries between art forms are removed.

Welcome to the promised land
Article Abstract:
The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England, is currently holding an exhibition of the drawings of Claude Lorrain. These drawings are a source of surprise, as they differ substantially from Lorrain's paintings. They have a closeness to nature, and show images very different from those Lorrain used for his paintings. The exhibition shows the full range of his drawings, indicating the many roles drawing played in his composition process.

Drawing is not an art, it's a cause
Article Abstract:
The Royal Academy in London is currently holding a 'Drawing Retrospective' of many different drawings by David Hockney. Some were done when he was still at art school, while others are designs for other works and others are finished portraits. Hockney sees drawing as a cause which should be given much greater attention.
