Officers in exile plot Saddam's fall
Article Abstract:
Iraqi President Saddam Hussein could come under threat from senior army officers who have left the country, according to General Wafiq al-Samarra'i, the former head of Iraqi military intelligence, who has lived outside Iraq since 1994. These officers are in contact with former colleagues who are still in the Iraqi army. They are taking action because they are aware that the Iraqi opposition is too divided to be a viable force against Saddam Hussein, even though it is receiving increased support from the Republican majority in the US Congress.

The widow who grieves out loud
Article Abstract:
Leah Rabin, wife of assassinated Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, has not hesitated to attribute her husband's death to the influence of Binyamin Netanyahu, leader of the right-wing Likud party. She has often been seen in the past as being distant from ordinary people, but is now seen as a martyr. She has also already become a symbol of the policy of peace with the Palestinians.
