Food for thought
Article Abstract:
The plot of a film will fall naturally into place if the writer is aware of the story which is to be told and creates rounded characters, according to actor Stanley Tucci. He gained considerable critical acclaim for 'Big Night,' a film which he wrote himself and then directed and starred in. This film was made in real time, as it revolved around the importance of slowing down and enjoying life. It tells of life in a gourmet restaurant in New Jersey in the 1950s, and clearly reflects Tucci's own love of eating.

The TV afterglow of divine madness
Article Abstract:
It can be difficult to produce a successful television version of a Shakespeare play, according to actor Ian Holm. He was highly acclaimed for his performance as King Lear in Richard Eyre's production at the National Theatre in London, England, in 1997. A slightly adapted version of this production is now to be shown by the BBC. Holm believes that television audiences will appreciate this production. He found that playing King Lear required great physical fitness, but he did not find it difficult mentally.

What's the boy playing at?
Article Abstract:
Characters who seem to be passive observers are very interesting, according to actor Christian Bale. He became famous very suddenly through appearing in 'Empire of the Sun' at the age of 13, but has not experienced the difficulties that other teenage actors and actresses have encountered. He has never lost sight of who he really is, and tends to avoid show business events, preferring to surf or spend time with friends.
