Forbidden love
Article Abstract:
The film 'Kama Sutra' is attracting large audiences outside India, and it is outrageous that it is being opposed by the Indian censors, according to Mira Nair, the film's director. She believes that India is now a very sexually repressed country, even though it still worships the union of the male and the female in many different ways. She believes that this film represents a valuable opportunity to give an accurate picture of Indian aesthetics and culture. She believes that opposition to the film in India stems partly from the fact that it was made by a woman.

Who controls the censor?
Article Abstract:
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) was extremely active in 1994, cutting, banning or postponing the release of a considerable number of films. However, its recently published 1994-1995 annual audit is seriously lacking in detail about this work, giving no reasons for why films were cut or banned. Some observers feel that the BBFC is being influenced by media pressure for more films to be banned, thus prompting it to ban films which in the past it would have approved.

Wow! Where can I get a strait-jacket like that?
Article Abstract:
There have traditionally been very close links between the worlds of film and fashion, with considerable benefits to both sides. Fashion trends have often started after a film star has worn a particular style of clothes, and many former models have gone on to be film actresses. However, these links are now becoming weaker as fashion houses are able to show their designs in other areas, such as television programmes and department stores.
