Francis Skinner
Article Abstract:
Architect Francis Skinner entered the Architectural Association in 1927 and became very influenced by radical developments in European architecture. His first building was completed in 1934 at the age of only 26. This was a reinforced concrete house for the Modern Homes Exhibition. He took a keen interest in politics, and was also active in the Association of Building Technicians and the Association of Architects, Surveyors and Technical Assistants. His work was always based on a firm belief in egalitarian ideals.

David Allford
Article Abstract:
Architect David Allford was influenced early in his career by F.R.S Yorke, and spent his entire working life at architectural firm Yorke, Rosenberg and Mardall. He gained inspiration from the crisp rational forms of Mies van der Rohe, and worked closely with Bryan Henderson, who also spent his entire career at Yorke, Rosenberg and Mardall. He worked on a number of important public buildings, including Gatwick Airport, Warwick University and several large hospitals.
