Historian Francois Furet studied history at the Sorbonne in Paris, France, where he developed a strong interest in and understanding of politics. He developed a very wide range of political friendships, and became a talented commentator on contemporary political matters. He was able to develop his views at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, where he eventually became president for eight years from 1977. He exerted considerable influence on public perception of France's modern political culture.

Donald J. Olsen
Article Abstract:
Urban historian Donald J. Olsen was extremely interested in London, England, even though he taught at Vassar College in New York, NY, for most of his professional life. He also had an interest in Europe as a whole, and wrote three very influential books. He wrote in great detail about the mechanics of estate management, and undertook extensive research on this subject. He was very keen on travelling, even though he was severely physically disabled.
