Oxford history graduate Geoffrey Treasure is taking retirment at 62 after a lifetime working at Harrow School. He began teaching intending to write in his spare time, but found that teaching took up most of his time. He has published three books on history. On marriage in 1967 he became a housemaster, taking on a parental role. He stopped caning. Work continued over the weekend with sports and clubs. Life at Harrow School is more relaxed in the 90's and the pupils go out more.

Beating cancer, passing GCSEs
Article Abstract:
Gregory Taylor cycles, swims and plays golf despite having an osteogenic sarcoma, bone cancer, in his arm. An operation replaced a bone with titanium, giving him limited movement. Two secondary tumours appeared in his lungs, requiring further opeations. He also endured drainage tubes reinserted from outside, and chemotherapy. Despite missing 2 1/2 years of school, Gregory passed six GCSE exams.
