George Chisholm
Article Abstract:
Trombonist, pianist and arranger George Chisholm came from a very musical family. He first worked professionally as a pianist in a cinema in Glasgow, Scotland, and made his first broadcast in 1932. He moved to London, England, in 1935 to play in Teddy Joyce's band, and began playing with American saxophone players Benny Carter and Coleman Hawkins. He was a founder member of a big band named the Heralds of Swing in 1939. He played with Alex Welsh's band during the 1960s and 1970s.

Leroy Vinnegar
Article Abstract:
Bassist Leroy Vinnegar developed his musical abilities as a teenager, playing with musicians including trombonists David Baker and Slide Hampton. He turned professional at the age of 20, and from 1952 worked in Chicago, IL. He moved to Los Angeles, CA, in 1954, appearing or recording with musicians including Art Tatum, Dexter Gordon and Barney Kessel. His first album, 'Leroy Walks!,' appeared in 1957.
