George Ross-Goobey
Article Abstract:
Investment manager George Ross-Goobey trained as an actuary, and in 1947 became pension fund manager of Imperial Tobacco. He showed great strength of character, persuading the trustees of the fund to place almost the entire fund in equities. He invested in a very wide range of small companies, and his overall investment record was extremely impressive. He was elected National Association of Pension Funds Pres in 1972, and in 1988 received the actuarial profession's first Award of Honour.

Sir Reo Stakis
Article Abstract:
Hotelier Argyros Anastasis, known as Reo Stakis, was born in Kato Drys, Cyprus, in 1913. He was sent to the UK at the age of 14, and sold lace before renting a cafe in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1945.

Champagne producer Odette Pol-Roger was born in Paris, France, in 1911. She became involved in marketing Pol Roger champagne after her marriage to Jacques Pol-Roger in 1933.
