Go on, think the unthinkable
Article Abstract:
There are many opportunities for graduates with DERA, the largest employer of scientists in the UK. This government agency, which undertakes scientific and engineering research and development for military and civil applications, requires more than 500 graduates each year. Science and engineering graduates are invited to apply to DERA's graduate recruitment department, which then makes details of the best candidates available to each of the 13 technical departments. These departments select and recruit candidates directly.

It is becoming increasingly common in the UK for graduates to look positively on a career in retailing. Retailers now offer a range of attractive opportunities to graduates, including rapid career progression and the possibility of working abroad. They generally have structured graduate training schemes, and offer good long-term career prospects. Retailers are increasingly prepared to pay close attention to what graduates are really looking for in a career.
