Harry Blech
Article Abstract:
Violinist and conductor Harry Blech began to play the violin at the age of nine. He gained a scholarship to study at Trinity College of Music at the age of 11, and as a teenager attended two of Oskar Sevcik's courses at Pisek, Czechoslovakia. He studied with Arthur Caterall at the Royal Manchester College of Music between the ages of 18 and 20, and during this time also played in the Halle Orchestra. He joined the first violins in the BBC Symphony Orchestra in 1930, remaining there until 1936. He created the Blech String Quartet in 1933.

Watson Forbes
Article Abstract:
Viola player Watson Forbes made his first public performance at the age of 12, and later won first prize in the Perth Festival. He was taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London, England, from the age of 16 by Editha Knocker and Raymond Jeremy, and in 1930 went to Pisek, Czechoslovakia, to study with Otakar Sevcik. He played with the Stratton String Quartet throughout the 1930s, and was joint leader of the London Symphony Orchestra at the beginning of the second world war.

Harry Danks
Article Abstract:
Viola player Harry Danks was born in Pensnett, England, in 1912. He taught himself to play the viola, and joined the City of Birmingham Orchestra. He later joined the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
