Hawkers, hookers and Albanians
Article Abstract:
Marlborough Street magistrates' court in Soho, London, deals with a wide range of petty crime, such as shoplifting and prostitution. Many cases are handled every day, giving an atmosphere of production-line justice. Some of the people who appear there have become regulars, regarding a court case as simply an occupational hazard. There is very little media interest in the cases which are handled at this court, and almost all defendants are sent away quickly with a fine or a short prison sentence.

British carp are under threat. Big fish being smuggled into the country are bringing with them fatal diseases
Article Abstract:
Carp imported illegally to the UK are posing a severe threat to native carp, as they carry potentially fatal diseases. Lake owners are tempted to import carp as anglers increase demands for larger fish and supplies are not available from within the UK. Fish from European waters are larger, but are often diseased. The most serious disease is Spring Viraemia of Carp (SVC).
