Family planning adviser Helen Brook strongly believed that all children should be born to parents who wanted them and would care for them. She worked as a volunteer for the Family Planning Association, and in 1958 was invited by Marie Stopes to run an independent clinic in London, England. She began offering advice specifically to young people in 1963, but had to do so secretly. The first Brook Advisory Centre, which worked specifically with young, unmarried people, opened in 1964.

Helen Wills Moody

Tennis player Helen Wills Moody began playing tennis at the age of eight. She showed great determination, and also performed well academically. She wrote articles for newspapers in London, England, in the 1930s, and also dominated the tennis scene from the early 1920s until the late 1930s. She won the Ladies' Singles at the American Lawn Tennis Championship on seven occasions and the Women's Singles at the English Lawn Tennis Championship on eight occasions.

Helen Rollason

Sports journalist Helen Rollason studied physical education at the Chelsea School in Eastbourne, England, before working as a PE teacher for three years. She began her career in journalism with Essex Radio in 1980, and then moved to Channel Four, Thames Television and the BBC children's news programme 'Newsround.' She was named Sports Presenter of the Year in 1996, and in Jul 1999 received an MBE.
