Help your customers pick the right bird
Article Abstract:
Birds must be compatible with its potential owners. The pet shop owner must know the customer and his family's lifestyle, dwelling and diseases. Aggressive birds such as the yellow-naped Amazon may not be appropriate for children who tend to be curious. Some parrots and cocakatoos produce feather dust that may cause allergies. Parrots need constant attention while canaries and finches can be left to entertain themselves. Customers must also be informed of specific caring needs of the bird such as appropriate cages and food. These considerations will help the pet shop owner satisfy his customers and increase his sales.

Managing strategic items
Article Abstract:
Accumulation of slow-selling inventory in pet shops are usually the result of overstocking and wrong marketing. Pet shop management must resist the temptation to overstock on hot-selling merchandise while ignoring the rest of his wares. He must train his sales personnel to divert their marketing efforts and strategies to the slow-selling items rather than pushing items which are bought by the customer regardless of a sales pitch. These measure will translate into increased sales and more profits.
