Hidden hazards of a quick dip
Article Abstract:
Several hundred farmers in the UK are reporting serious side-effects from the organophosphate pesticides (OPs) used in sheep dips. Symptoms include muscular pain, fatigue, chest pains and damage to the central nervous system. These farmers claim that the Ministry of Agriculture is deliberately concealing its failure to recognise earlier the dangers associated with handling OPs. Compulsory dipping of sheep was lifted in 1992, and some farmers believe that this is because of the serious side-effects which were starting to be reported.

Are we money mad?
Article Abstract:
It is still regarded as impolite to talk about money in western society, even though people are now much more open about sex, according to psychologists Professor Adrian Furnham and Professor Michael Argyle. This is particularly the case in the UK, where people are very reluctant to reveal details about their income or savings. Furnham and Argyle believe that humanity can be divided into those who spend money and those who save it. Spenders live for the present, while savers are generally more optimistic.
