Hit and run television
Article Abstract:
The BBC has always found it hard to find the right formula for a successful drama series. It has not been as successful as ITV in producing a regular flow of popular drama series, and has had to work hard to schedule series to fit in with the changing demands of the audience, according to producer Alan Yentob. The BBC now frequently uses options on second and even third series to ensure continuity of writing, but this can put further pressure on producers and schedulers.
