TV embrace leads to death
Article Abstract:
Jonathan Schmitz is currently on trial for the murder of Scott Amedure after it was revealed on the 'Jenny Jones Show' that Amedure had homosexual fantasies about Schmitz. Defenders of Schmitz claim that his mental capacity was diminished at the time of the murder and that he had been pursued and provoked by Amedure. Some observers feel that the crime was prompted by the fact that the two men appeared on television. Indeed, the case has already encouraged some television chat shows to take a more moderate line.

Too much too young
Article Abstract:
The recent murder in Colorado of JonBenet Ramsey, a six-year-old who had competed in many beauty contests for children, has attracted considerable attention. The case has served to strengthen the argument of those who feel that beauty contests are somewhat grotesque. Indeed, some observers feel that dressing this girl up to look much older could have made her the target of someone who was jealous of her success or of a pervert.
