How do you make school as alluring as James Bond?
Article Abstract:
Many children take very little interest in what they learn at school, but find it easy to devote a great deal of time to absorbing large amounts of information about popular culture, such as computer games or football teams. Latest research indicates that lack of interest in school work could stem from the fact that schools pay almost no attention to the definite ideas about the world that children have already developed by the time they start formal education. It is clear that schools must be far more integrated with the lives of children and the culture in which they live.

Only big business can save us now
Article Abstract:
It may be advisable to move to commercial cultivation of plants for herbal medicines, according to a report from Traffic, a unit of the World Wide Fund for Nature. This report indicates that growing demand for herbal medicines is placing plant species under threat of extinction. It also recommends that substitutes should be found for plants now at risk. Many of those involved in producing herbal medicines would actually welcome a shift towards commercial cultivation, and some companies have already invested in growing their own strains.

Did Lucy live in the woods
Article Abstract:
Scientists have generally believed for some time that early humans began walking upright on savannah land when climate conditions changed and they were no longer able to survive in forests. However, evidence has now emerged which indicates that hominids could have been walking upright in forested areas many years before they moved to the savannah. Scientists must now decide what triggered the move towards walking upright, if it was not the shift to living in savannah areas.
