Don't be a sponge. There's nothing to worry about
Article Abstract:
There is strong trend in the UK towards launching household items which are claimed to have anti-bacterial properties. Most recently, Procter and Gamble has launched an anti-bacterial washing up liquid. There are many advertisements which sell products of this kind by playing on people's fears of bacterial infection. In fact, the majority of bacteria are completely harmless, and all will be killed by standard hygiene procedures. The Public Health Laboratory Service believes that anti-bacterial products could lead to people becoming complacent about basic hygiene.

Lost in the accounts - 170kgs of uranium
Article Abstract:
A report issued by the UK Atomic Energy Authority indicates that 170 kg of uranium may be unaccounted for from the early years of operation at the Dounreay reprocessing plant. The report emphasizes that the uranium was not stolen or transferred into the UK's nuclear weapons programme. The discrepancy arose merely as a result of accounting errors relating to many small shipments. This explanation has been accepted by the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate.
