How to make the never-never pay off
Article Abstract:
Personal borrowing has expanded rapidly in the UK over recent years. More than 10 million households now have a mortgage, from only 6 million in 1980. Mortgages account for more than three-quarters of personal borrowing, but the level of consumer credit in all areas is rising. The overall level of debt held by UK families has not fallen over the last few years, even though the economy has been expanding. Many people now face serious debt problems, even though they have not been guilty of over-borrowing. However, total personal borrowing is now falling as a proportion of personal assets.

Junior school to coal face, we can make a difference
Article Abstract:
UK MPs must deal with many different situations in a single working day. They must be able to communicate with a wide range of different people, and must be aware of many different issues. In many cases, they can be very influential, and this can make them feel guilty if they cannot give their personal attention to all problems of which they are made aware. New MPs are strongly aware that they have the ability to make significant changes to the lives of people who are really suffering.

A degree is still the key to better job prospects
Article Abstract:
New graduates found it hard to obtain employment during the recession of the early 1990s in the UK. However, this situation has now improved greatly, and some large companies are beginning to experience difficulties in recruiting enough graduates. However, employment prospects for 22 to 25-year-olds with no qualifications remain very bleak. There are still also problems with the supply of jobs for teenagers.
