Article Abstract:
Former Russian literary critic Victor Erofeyev became a novelist and was twice expelled from the Writers' Union. He published a collection of censored literature which caused the sacking of his father from his post as Soviet ambassador to the United Nations. In 1980 Erofeyev wrote 'Russian Beauty' in which the heroine sleeps with all levels of Russian society. He aimed to express female attitudes and to break taboos. Upon publication in 1989 the book achieved popularity at the Frankfurt Book Fair and translation into 20 languages.
