Horace Charles Jones
Article Abstract:
Writer Horace Charles Jones received little formal education, leaving school in his early teens to work as a coalminer. He often clashed with the police, as well as with fellow residents of Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. His writing was designed to cause offence and to degrade, and in turn he took offence easily. He was very critical of those who disliked his work, and was also outspokenly opposed to the Welsh Arts Council. His first and only hardback collection of verse, 'The Challenger,' was published in 1966.
