'I like Hague, but he's wrong about the euro.' (Michael Heseltine)
Article Abstract:
The UK government cannot remain neutral on the issue of the single European currency, according to former Conservative minister Michael Heseltine. He feels that Conservative party leader William Hague is misguided in ruling out single currency membership in the current Parliament and the next. He believes that the Conservative party should have remained committed to its earlier policy of waiting to see how the single currency develops. He also feels that Prime Minister Tony Blair should give the UK a lead on Europe.

Why 'Mr Grumpy' wants to have the last laugh
Article Abstract:
The UK should enter the first wave of the single European currency, according to former Prime Minister Edward Heath. He has been strongly committed to close UK links with continental Europe since 1937, when he witnessed a rally in Nuremberg, Germany, attended by Hitler. He is a founder member of the Conservative One Nation group, and feels that the Conservative party should have elected Kenneth Clarke as leader, rather than William Hague.
