'I think he has suffered enough.' (former Private Eye editor Richard Ingrams)(Media +)
Article Abstract:
Former Private Eye editor Richard Ingrams still believes that the shortcomings of public figures such as politicians should be highlighted. However, he feels that he has become less fervent in his pursuit of public figures as he has grown older. He is now less willing to pursue long-term campaigns against public figures who have made mistakes in their private lives, and seems to have adopted a more sympathetic attitude. Indeed, he has even gone as far as to criticize journalists who hound some individuals.

(That's enough cynical satire, Ed)
Article Abstract:
Richard Ingrams has become most well known as a satirist over the last few decades, having particularly attacked pedantry and hypocrisy. However, there is also another side to his character, as reflected in his new biography of journalist and broadcaster Malcolm Muggeridge. He acknowledges that Muggeridge has had a great influence on his life, and the biography also reveals his strong views on religion.

'When I write, I not only air my beef, I discover what it is.' (Tobias Wolff)(Interview)
Article Abstract:
Writer Tobias Wolff shows himself in a very negative light in the two volumes of autobiography which he has published. He admits to having lied and stolen, and casts himself in the role of villain, rather than hero. His actions were driven by feelings of class anxiety and powerlessness, and these remain with him even now. He is currently working on a new collection of short stories.
