Article Abstract:
It is becoming increasingly common for employers to place considerable emphasis on emotional intelligence when assessing job applicants. Job applicants are now expected to offer skills such as leadership, teamworking and managing their emotions. Acquiring emotional intelligence may require graduates to begin thinking in new ways.

No smoke without gossip
Article Abstract:
A company's smoking room can act as a valuable forum for the exchange of information. The growing anti-smoking stance in the UK has made smoking into a rather furtive and secretive activity, and this can actually have a positive impact on employee relations, creating valuable networks. However, some observers believe that smoking rooms are really only a social club, with most networking of any significance taking place at senior management level.
