Understand business variation for improved business performance
Article Abstract:
Statistical process control (SPC) can effectively improve organizational performance. SPC provides managers with an understanding of the variations affecting business activities to determine ways to respond to these. However, a recent National Health Service Executive publication showed that most managers fail to adopt SPC techniques due to a lack of understanding of SPC and inadequate top management support for SPC.

Not a load of rubbish
Article Abstract:
Local authorities have a duty to collect rubbish from all houses. The job may be undertaken by private companies under contract or local council operations. Households in the United Kingdom produce roughly 20 million t of waste annually. Around 85% of rubbish is placed in landfill sites, while about 9% is burned and 2% used for energy.

Ian McHarg
Article Abstract:
Landscape architect, regional planner and teacher Ian McHarg was born in Clydebank, Scotland, in 1920. He studied at Harvard Graduate School of Design, and then worked as a planner. He later co-founded the Dept of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania.
