A handmade medieval castle rises in Burgundy
Article Abstract:
Chateau de Guedelon, which is under construction in northern Burgundy, France, will be the first castle of its type to be made since the 13th century. The project is employing 35 labourers, who wear medieval clothing and use only medieval methods. It has taken 18 months to complete the 10ft-thick foundations and lower walls, and the castle will not be totally finished until 2025. It is hoped that there will eventually be a medieval village and a priory.
