In gear for the future
Article Abstract:
UK motoring organization the RAC is looking closely at latest technology for racing cars, aware that this technology could before long be adapted for use in ordinary road-going vehicles. The organization believes that real-time telemetry and improved remote diagnostic capabilities, which are likely to feature in many road-going vehicles by the middle of the first decade of the 21st century, will lead to significant changes in its relationship with its members. It will become possible, for example, to begin to find out what is wrong with a member's car before an RAC patrol has even reached the vehicle.

Music industry defends use of drugs
Article Abstract:
The record industry has reacted negatively to calls from former Beatles producer Sir George Harrison for record companies to ban music stars who take drugs. The industry believes that taking a tough stance against drugs would mean that potential talent is cast aside. Alan McGee, head of the Creation record label, has pointed out that Sir George himself has gained from music recorded under the influence of drugs. He believes that the best approach to combatting drug-taking is to encourage informed debate.
