From throat-cutter to side-splitter
Article Abstract:
The films and screenplays of director Paul Schrader have generally focused on serious issues, such as murder, terrorism and drug dealing. However, he has now changed direction with 'Witch Hunt,' a comedy about the adventures of a private detective in Hollywood in the early 1950s. He believes that this change of approach will bring him to the attention of film industry executives with whom be has become out of touch, and hopes that it will lead to new commissions.

Echoes from the vault
Article Abstract:
It is now 40 years since Hammer Films, then a struggling UK production company, launched the film 'The Quatermass Experiment.' This was to be the first of many horror films from the company, and these were to prove extremely popular with audiences, even though they attracted some scorn from critics initially. Hammer Films itself suffered the same fate as many other UK production companies, closing down in the late 1970s.
