American astronomer, Guillermo Gonzalez, has suggested that over 95% of the stars in our galaxy are unable to support life because of their location. Gonzalez believes that complex life like our own could be unique to earth. Issues concerning the factors that make our sun able to support life are presented.

Scientists are taking seriously the possibility that an asteroid could collide with the Earth. So far, 291 potentially dangerous asteroids have been confirmed, but scientists believe that there are 750 to 1,100 near-Earth asteroids larger than 1 km.
