Article Abstract:
The bugging and recording of telephone calls is now common in workplaces across the UK. However, most examples of this practice never come to the attention of the general public, and in most cases even the person who is subjected to surveillance is not aware of the fact. Private detective agencies have traditionally dealt mainly with matrimonial work, but they are now finding that there is very strong demand for their services from business clients. Companies in the City of London in particular are very keen to use surveillance to check whether employees are being poached by rivals.
