Is it an exhibit of cultural cool, or just a fire extinguisher?
Article Abstract:
The powerhouse::uk exhibition being held in four silver pods at Horseguards Parade in London, England, presents the work of creative designers who may not be well known to the general public. These include milliner Dai Rees and jeweller Naomi Filmer. The exhibition can be rather overwhelming, as ordinary items are given an element of artistic importance. In some cases, it can be difficult to tell what is an exhibit and what is not. There is a significant fashion element, along with music, video, furniture and futuristic gadgets.

Suits you, signore
Article Abstract:
The autumn/winter 1999 to 2000 collections of menswear that have been shown in Milan, Italy, recently indicate that there are no very definite trends in menswear. The most significant elements of these collections have been the fabrics and the detailing. The Velcro fastening can still be seen on many different menswear items, but there are also indications that the zip is making a comeback. Funnel necks are set to become very popular, while the main colours are black and grey, with a few touches of bright colours.

Rubber soles run wild
Article Abstract:
Large manufacturers of training shoes are using latest technology to make their products extremely anatomically correct. However, such refinements are of little use to ordinary people, who tend to choose their trainers simply on the basis of fashion. There is particularly strong demand for retro or 'authentic' trainers, although some consumers still want the most hi-tech styles. Designers of trainers have now gained great power to determine fashion trends.
