Is this forbidden territory?
Article Abstract:
New social science research in the US indicates that the fall in crime levels seen in the 1990s could be attributable to the rise in the number of abortions in the 1970s. Young mothers from poor backgrounds or ethnic minorities whose children may have become involved in crime had abortions, thus preventing potential criminals entering the population. This is a very controversial assertion, as it appears to defend abortion and presents a stark choice between abortion and crime. However, there should be no forbidden territories in social science.

London calling: help!
Article Abstract:
Some observers in the UK claim that London receives a large amount of government and lottery funding compared with the rest of the country. However, policy-makers are in fact giving a great deal of attention to regional issues. It is very important to ensure that London's status is maintained, as the city is of key significance to the country's economy as a whole. This is particularly important as competition from other 'world cities' grows.
