Article Abstract:
The departure of a number of leading dancers from the Royal Ballet is a symptom of significant difficulties at the company. These dancers have clearly been sufficiently dissatisfied with the situation at the Royal Ballet to take the risk of becoming involved in a completely new venture, rather than merely moving to another established company. The company's dancers have been offered improved salaries and employment conditions, but it will also be necessary to make significant changes to the company's artistic direction and managerial structures.
