It's in London and it's a lovely white house on a hill (but not as you'd imagine it)
Article Abstract:
The American Institute of Architecture has made an award to architect Rick Mather for a modern glass house he has designed in Hampstead, London, England. This design shows an extremely high level of attention to detail. It makes extensive use of natural light, and has low-tech features that make it energy-efficient. It is designed to make maximum benefit of the positive features of its surroundings while minimizing the impact of the negative features. In contrast, architect Ron Arad has seen Haringey Council reject his design for a house on a site in Hampstead.

The bunker of suburbia
Article Abstract:
Architect Pierre D'Avoigne has designed the world's first steel-frame underground house. Located in Ealing, London, England, the U-shaped house will have three zones for cooking and eating, sleeping and living. It will have sunken courtyard with windows, allowing natural light to enter the house. Modern construction methods will be used to ensure that the structure has as little impact as possible on the surrounding area.
