It's not Ashcroft's millions the Tories need, it's coherent policies
Article Abstract:
UK Conservative party Treasurer Michael Ashcroft's decision to sue the Times newspaper for libel has indirectly brought the party into conflict with Rupert Murdoch. This has in turn created significant problems for party leader William Hague, who can be forgiven for regarding Ashcroft as the party's saviour following its election defeat in 1997. However, factors other than money will ultimately determine whether the Conservative party undergoes a revival. In particular, the party must develop a set of coherent policies.
