Jack Hinton VC
Article Abstract:
Jack Hinton was a New Zealander who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions in Greece in 1941 during the Second World War. He was born in 1909 and left home at 12-years-old, earning a living as a galley hand, swagman and errand boy. He spent four and a half years as a prisoner of the Germans during the war, and then went back to New Zealand where he managed hotels. He retired in 1980 and died in 1997. He was buried with complete military honors.

General Wego Chiang
Article Abstract:
Soldier Wego Chiang, the son of a friend of late Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek and a Japanese nurse, was adopted by Chiang Kai-shek. He joined the Nationalist Party at the age of around 20, and during the first few months of the war with Japan trained in Germany. He became Chief of Armour of the Taiwan armed forces in 1958, and between 1968 and 1980 worked at the Armed Forces University. He became a senior adviser to President Lee in 1993.

C.M. Woodhouse
Article Abstract:
Soldier, historian and politician Christopher Woodhouse was born in 1917. He studied Classics at New College, Oxford, England, and organized resistance forces in occupied Greece during the second world war. He was elected Conservative MP for Oxford, England, in 1959.
