Janet Adam Smith

Writer and journalist Janet Adam Smith was a scholar of Cheltenham Ladies' College and an exhibitioner at Somerville College, Oxford, England, where she read English. She initially worked for BBC Publications, but then became a sub-editor on The Listener. She wrote and edited while bringing up her children, and in 1937 published a short biography of Robert Louis Stevenson. She became Assistant Literary Editor of the New Statesman and Nation in 1949, and was Literary Editor from 1952 to 1960.

Robert Barr

War correspondent and television scriptwriter Robert Barr was a freelance reporter before he joined the staff of the Daily Mail. He was taken on by the BBC as war correspondent on the outbreak of the second world war, and started by covering North Sea convoys. He subsequently became one of the four correspondents selected to travel with General Dwight Eisenhower. He became a radio features producer in 1945, but in 1946 switched to television.

Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Article Abstract:
Writer and aviator Anne Morrow Lindbergh was born in Englewood, NJ, in 1906. She attended Smith College and married Charles Lindbergh in 1929.
