John Denver
Article Abstract:
Singer John Denver often played the guitar as a child, and became involved in the folk music scene in Los Angeles, CA. He joined the popular Chad Mitchell Trio, which in 1967 recorded his composition 'Leavin' on a Jet Plane.' He released his first solo album, 'Rhymes and Reasons,' in 1969, and in the early 1970s obtained a six-week television series on BBC2. He failed to gain real credibility because his songs were often covered by mediocre entertainers, rather than by rock artists.
