John Elwyn
Article Abstract:
Painter John Elwyn spent a happy childhood in Emyln Mill, Wales, and often drew on his childhood experiences for his paintings in later life. He studied at the Carmarthen School of Art, and then attended the West of England College of Art in Bristol, England. His talent was spotted by Gilbert Spencer, Professor of Painting at the London College of Printing. He taught at the College of Art in Portsmouth, England, between 1948 and 1953, and held his first exhibition in London, England, in 1949.

Stanislaw Frenkiel
Article Abstract:
Painter, writer and teacher Stanislaw Frenkiel was born in Cracow, Poland, in 1918. He studied at the Academy of Fine Art there, and after the second world war entered the Beirut Academy of Fine Art and the Sir John Cass School of Art in London, England. He then held teaching posts.

Dick Lee
Article Abstract:
Painter and teacher Dick Lee was born in Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia, in 1923. He served in the Royal Navy during the second world war and studied at Camberwell School of Art between 1947 and 1950, where he later taught.
