John Wayne: a love song
Article Abstract:
John Wayne, born Marion Morrison, grew up in California. He created dreams for viewers of his films. His sexual authority was obvious even to children. In his westerns he was such a commanding figure that it was hard to accept that he should fall ill. He made his 165th film, 'The Sons of Katie Elder,' when he was not really well enough to work and needed an oxygen inhalator by the end of a day's shooting. The film was made in Durango, Mexico, directed by Henry Hathaway.
