Judge Dread
Article Abstract:
Singer and songwriter Alex Hughes, known as Judge Dread, first came to public attention with the song 'Big Six,' which sold 300,000 copies and spent 27 weeks in the charts in the UK following its release in 1972. He signed to Cactus Records in 1974 and subsequently released a number of hit records, including 'Big Ten' and 'Christmas in Dreadland.' His stage act, which combined vaudeville, single entendres and music hall, influenced performers such as Ian Drury and Buster Bloodvessel.

Chico Ryan

Singer and bass-player David-Allen (Chico) Ryan first came to public attention with a New Jersey vocal quartet known as the Happenings. He auditioned to join Sha Na Na in 1973, and adopted Chico as a stage name on joining this group. The high point of the group's career was appearing in the 1978 film 'Grease.' The group received several platinum awards, and continued to be a popular concert attraction.
