Konstantin Sergeyev (Obituary)
Article Abstract:
Konstantin Mikhailovich Sergeyev, dancer and choreographer was born on Mar 5 1910 in St. Petersburg and died on Apr 1 1992. He was the figurehead of the Kirov Ballet in Leningrad. He began dancing late and was taught by Vladimir Ponomaryov and Victor Semyonov, graduating in 1930. Sergeyev was a handsome, romantic man who married his co-lead dancer, Natalia Dudinskaya. He became ballet master of the company in 1946. The defection of his star pupil, Natalia Makarova in 1970 led to his loss of post as artistic director. The Vaganova Choreographic Academy reinstated him in 1973 and he stayed there for 20 years.

Writer Ian Black studied Philosophy at Manchester University, England. He joined the Rank Scenario Department at Pinewood Studios in 1946 after serving in RAF Intelligence, and in 1954 became involved in the creation of 'Fabian of the Yard,' the first filmed detective series. He published several novels in the 1950s and 1960s, and was also involved in many successful television series. He worked very hard to encourage new writers.
