Left behind from the very beginning?
Article Abstract:
Stanley Coren, Professor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia, has written a book, 'The Left-Hander Syndrome,' explaining his theories about left-handedness. He observes that right-handedness is unique to humans and suggests that brain damage at birth causes left-handedness. Dr Marion Annett, clinical psychology lecturer at Leicester University, conducted research which found that more left-handed children are bright and have all-round ability. This was confirmed by the Centre for Left-Handed Studies study in June 1992.

For shame
Article Abstract:
Some people regard shame as an old-fashioned emotion which has no place in modern society. However, others feel that regaining a proper sense of shame would play a key role in improving the moral state of UK society. New research indicates that shame is a more complex emotion than has traditionally been believed, requiring the intelligence to establish standards and to be aware when these standards have not been reached. Some researchers believe that shame is a key emotion underlying other emotions, including violence and addiction.

Seeing it all in a different light
Article Abstract:
The ability of most birds and animals to see the short-wave ultraviolet (UV) end of the colour spectrum has a significant impact on their behaviour. Research has only recently begun to uncover just how significant UV is, and it is likely that many new views on animal behaviour, especially that of birds, will have to be formulated. Several aquatic animals, for example, have UV vision which they use for hunting and to protect themselves from predators.
