Let this Sleeping Beauty lie
Article Abstract:
The Kirov Ballet is currently performing its restored version of 'Sleeping Beauty' in New York, NY, and aims to bring this version to the Royal Opera House in London, England, in 2000. Sergei Vikharev, the company's ballet master, based this work on the 312 pages of a choreographic score now in the Harvard Theatre Collection. He had to learn the notation system invented by Vladimir Stepanov in the 1890s, and also studied five different contemporary versions.
